May 21/22 - Flower Beds

On Sunday, I finally had time to do some much needed weeding in the flower gardens.  They were a mess from two or three weeks on neglect.  There was lots of weeding to be done, but it looks so much better now.  I am so happy with how everything is doing.

There are a couple of empty spaces, one used to be a daylily that didn't come back this year and I'm not sure what used to be in the other spot.  But it means I have space for some new additions!  I planted a few new liattrice bulbs that I got from Vesey's in hopes of getting some new colours.

Henry surprised me by telling me that he wants me to extend this part of the side garden to include the area where the grass is longer!  Yeah, more flowers!  And another project!

May 21/22 Vegetable Garden

Saturday was vegetable garden day here!  I was determined to get as much as I could done this weekend and I am quite happy with the results.

Henry tilled the whole garden again as I edged the one side that hadn't been done the last time.  After he tilled, he put in the edging down the last side.  Then he took Liam to Grandma's house so that I could plant in peace!

I took my time to plant all my seeds, taking time out to enjoy the beautiful weather we were having.  Potatoes (red and white), carrots, onions, beets, lettuce, swiss chard, parsley, cucumber, zucchini and dill are all planted.

Hopefully this week I will get a chance to go buy tomato, pepper and broccoli plants and get them planted too, so that the garden will be done!

Tilled, edged and ready for planting.

Seeds, onions and potatoes all ready to be planted!
Potatoes couldn't even wait to be planted to start growing!
Lying on the ground under the tree, taking a little break!

 All planted!!
Can you see the little row markers?  It really is planted!!

May 14/15

Unfortunately, I haven't had any time to work in any of my gardens since starting the edging in the vegetable garden.  However, this coming weekend is the Victoria Day long weekend here, for many people that means camping or BBQs, for me, it means gardening!  I have a list a mile long of gardening tasks that I want to complete, so I hope that mother nature co-operates!

I did find the time to take a few pics of my flowers last week!
